OMG N00b!

Hey there. I'm new. As if that's not obvious already.

I found you guys via the post you did on making care packages for the geeky soldiers trying to have the con. Like most of you, I don't support the war, but I do support geeks in need.

Let's see... how I fit in with the title.

Bi:
Yup. More accurately pansexual/omnisexual/whateversexual, but bisexual has a community and a flag and people know what it means and so yeah. Bi. w00t. I'm out to my parents (they're not too please), at work (I work at a GLBT bookstore, so yeah), and with all my friends and lovers.

Poly:
I prefer non-monogamous because poly, at least to me, implies relationships and the people in those relationships all loving each other (even though I know that's not the case in some/most poly groups). And I've been taking a break from formal relationships (but not loving people, dating people, and having sex/making love) for a few years now, though that may change in the near future. I say I only enter into open relationships when I do enter into relationships. So yeah, poly.

Kinky:
Yup. Switch. Unapologetically non-lifestyle. I'm the type that likes sex with my BDSM. I like power play (not the traditional D/s but more of a Superior/inferior), bondage, knife play, role play of all types (see Gamer below), thuddy impact, caning others, the occasional licking of sexy shoes and studly boots, and a few fetishes. I'm out about it.

Pagan:
Here's the 5th out of the 6 that doesn't exactly match. I consider myself a (ok, here it goes): Agnostic Spiritual Humanist with Unitarian-Universalist and liberal Jewish leanings who uses the ritual of the Roman Catholic Mass as a gateway to spirituality. (I was raised Roman Catholic.) But I also do stuff on a regular basis with the DC Radical Faeries and I've recently been learning how to use Faerie Ritual as a gateway to spirituality. So yeah.

Gamer:
Yes, but not nearly as hardcore as some. I enjoy video games (WoW, DDR, GTA3, GTA: Vice City and Spider-Man 2, currently. I miss playing the SimCities, Freeciv and HalfLife/Team Fortress), retrogaming (NES, SNES. EarthBound (a.k.a. Mother 2) is my favorite game of all time), freeform role play (in person and online). (FFRP is a big one for me, even though I haven't been doing it much lately.) I LARPed once and I really enjoyed it and would like to get into a weekly LARP here in DC (but can't do the vampire one that meets at GWU). I also love the Looney Labs games, Chez Geek and Apples to Apples.

Geek:
Ayup. Computer geek, human sexuality geek (no, seriously. I want my PhD in it someday and I want to be a sexual educator), mass transit geek. Used to be a nature geek. I also geek out over Early American history and, sometimes, math. I've been a bookworm all my life. Oh, and I'm a huge fangirl. I've got a thing for the "villains" or the "evil" men, especially the ones who are just angry and angsty and misunderstood (see the community [info]ffkoah for more on this) (Doctor Octopus and Gendo Ikari (Neon Genesis Evangelion), but I've had a ton of other fandoms in the past and I'm sure I'll have a ton in the future.) Comic geek (Marvel > Spider-Man > Doctor Octopus. But I also like X-Men and I've recently finished reading the core books in the Sandman series and V for Vendetta. (BTW, Morpheus? Smexy. Same for Death. And V, for that matter.) I'm currently reading Hellsing and Sin City.) So, yeah, geek ftw. I've often said before that when all other labels for me fail, geek will always stay. It's probably the most important part of my identity... it's the core of me. I am a geek and noone can take that away from me.

So, yeah, that's me. Oh, and I live in the Washington DC area in The People's Republic of Takoma Park right on the DC border. So... hi! :-)

Hello, and welcome to the madhouse! (If you're hooked into DC sci-fi fandom at all, we may know some of the same people.)

I know a couple of people from DC Sci-Fi fandom.

I know [info]vvalkyri and this guy who goes to DC2600 meets that I can never remember his name.

I've been meaning to go to a sci-fi con for a while now. I wanna get with the filkers and sing and wander around in costume and maybe play a LARP or some games. It just sounds like a geekin' good time.

If you do manage to get to an SF con (media/lit SF in particular rather than anime or gaming), ask around for Nora Bombay (not her real name, but everybody will know who you mean) and tell her hello from me!

So I hate to post- steal, but my lover and I are in DC this weekend for a family wedding and desperate for some kinky fun tonight to offset all the little bunny energy. Any suggestions on clubs/playspaces/kink hang outs where we will meet more geeks the lifestylers- since I totally share your feelings on BDSM and sex and the like.

It's a long shot I know, but...

Feel free to take it off list if you do have any suggestions- DarkTeddyBear77 at gmail

Actually, it's a very short shot. The Crucible, our dungeon, has open play tonight. It's $40 a piece for non-members, $25 for associate members of reciprocal clubs (and it includes clubs all around the country). It's from 9-2 am.

Check out their webpage: http://www.the-crucible.com/

I was planning on going tonight myself until my plans fell through.

So, yeah, you're totally in luck! Have a great time! :-D

*Waves* Hello from southern Pa ALMOST in Md (15 minute drive south). We go to DC quite often (kids LOVE the zoo and being double History and Anthropology majors my wife and I end up at the SI quite a bit). Maybe all us Md/Pa'ish folks will have to do lunch sometime this summer.

Hey there,

Can't believe it's taken me 8 months to reply to this one.

Went back, read your LJ info, and you seem ubercool (and, if I may say so, totally hot). We should chat and stuff. Esp. if you wear kilts (OMG SMEXY) and you come to DC often.

So... yeah... talking is good. (Sex is better, but we'll start with talking, how's that?)
